How to ensure a bracelet or diamond bracelet is high-quality

1. Check for a hallmark – any genuine piece of jewellery will be hallmarked to confirm it is gold, silver, or platinum.
   
2. Pay attention to the sparkle of the diamond – it's a good indication of whether the diamond was cut with skill and therefore contributes to the item's quality.
   
3. Check the diamond's clarity:

• Flawless (FL): No inclusions or blemishes visible when magnified.
  
• Internally Flawless (IF): No inclusions; only blemishes are visible when magnified.
  
• Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1 and VVS2): Inclusions are difficult to see under magnification.
  
• Very Slightly Included (VS1 and VS2): Inclusions are minor and range from difficult to slightly easy to see when magnified.
  
• Slightly Included (SI1 and SI2): Inclusions are noticeable under magnification.
  
• Included (I1, I2, and I3): Inclusions are obvious when magnified and can affect the transparency and brilliance of the gemstone.

How do I know which size bracelet to buy?

Measure your wrist just below the bone with a measuring tape. It's best to add half an inch to an inch to your measurement to suit your desired fit. Check out our bracelet size guide for more tips.

How should I care for my bracelet?

Bracelet care:

• Remove before swimming in the ocean, a pool, or in the bath, as salt and product build-up can tarnish the bracelet.

• Remove before strenuous activity, where it can get damaged – for example, lifting weights in the gym can lead to damage or even loss of a stone.

• Avoid applying perfumes, moisturisers, or other chemicals while wearing your bracelet, as products can tarnish your jewellery.

Bracelet cleaning:

• Sterling silver bracelet: Use a polishing cloth. If extra cleaning power is needed, use a specialised silver cleaner.

• Gold bracelet: Use a small amount of regular dish soap in warm water, and gently brush the bracelet to remove any buildup.

• Diamond bracelet: Use dish soap and warm water. Allow the bracelet to soak for 20–40 minutes, then gently brush it.

What are the differences between each type of bracelet clasp?

• Lobster clasp: One of the most common types of bracelet clasp. As the name suggests, it resembles a lobster claw and is a sturdy option often used for heavier bracelets.

• Bolt ring clasp: A small lever within a circular clasp that opens and closes the mechanism. Popular for lightweight bracelets and necklaces.

• Sliding clasp: Mimicking a rope tie, this clasp allows you to fasten and unfasten using a sliding motion. Used for casual beaded or chain bracelets.

• T-bar clasp: A small bar on one end of a bracelet inserts into a ring on the other side. Popular for lighter pieces.
