24th March 2020. 4pm. Important Announcement.
We have taken the decision to temporarily close our stores in line with government guidance as of Tuesday 24th March. We will be open again as soon as it is safe to do so.
All of your items are safe and you will be able to redeem your items when we reopen. Our customers will not be disadvantaged during this time and we will work with our customers to reach the best possible outcomes during this difficult time. We will freeze interest and stop items going to auction where you have not had the opportunity to pay for and collect your items. For any questions or queries please call us on 0161 505 0369 or contact us on webchat at the bottom of this page.
We understand that for many of our customers this is an uncertain and difficult time and you may have experienced unexpected changes in your employment or income. Jewellery, Layaway and Retail Refunds
Any jewellery or watches which are currently on layaway will be held securely in our safes. As soon as our stores are open we will be in touch with you to try and complete your purchase. Full refunds will be given where you no longer require the item. If you have purchased an item in the last 30 days prior to the 24th March (store closure date) we will honour refunds as per our normal policy. You will need a valid receipt and items should be returned with the original packaging once our stores reopen.
23rd March 2020
H&T is absolutely committed to both customer and colleague health and safety, as well as operating strictly in line with government guidelines.
At the same time, as an 'essential financial service', as defined by the Financial Conduct Authority, we have a duty of care to our two million customers to ensure they have access to the financial services that are not available to them elsewhere - but in an environment that conforms completely to government guidelines.
Many of our customers rely on us to help them with their day-to-day finances. We are only open for financial service products which are deemed 'essential' and we will continue to open stores to support our customers who need us, as long as it is safe to do so. We have suspended our retail operation.
Our in-store staff levels have been reorganised to reflect FCA advice in relation to who needs to be customer-facing:'Individuals essential in the running of the branches and providing essential customer services, such as those dealing with consumer queries (including via call centres), client money and client assets and those maintaining access to cash and other payment services.' In addition:'Individuals essential in facilitating corporate and retail lending and administrating the repayment of debt.'
We continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, and will review our policy in line with FCA guidance, government directives, and/or our own concerns about the safety and well-being of our staff and their customers.
22nd March 2020
We appreciate that many of our customers have had both recent and future travel plans disrupted due to Covid19. During this difficult time we are doing everything we can to keep our stores open so we can buyback unused currencies. Unfortunately we can only currently buy (and sell) Euros and Dollars. Daily updates on any store closures will be published here, so please check before you travel. We will publish regular travel money updates over the next few days and weeks.
We've added some FAQs to this page which should help answer any questions that you may have. If there is anything that you need to know, please use live chat available on the bottom of this page or call 016150 50369.
For any changes, please keep your eye on this page which we will be updating daily in the morning.
17th March 2020
With the changing news of the Coronavirus, we understand that our customers may have concerns about coming into our stores.
On our part we’ve taken careful note of the official advice and guidelines from the government and have put in place extra measures, so that we can still get on with our day-to-day lives. Our stores continue to be as rigorously cleaned as usual and over the last week we’ve introduced new team training and hygiene practices to ensure the safety and well-being of our colleagues and customers.
All our H&T stores are currently open, and we will strive to remain open whilst closely monitoring the government’s advice. For any changes, please keep your eye on this page which we will be updating daily in the morning.
We look forward to seeing you one of our stores very soon!
